Editorial Illustration

Award-winning recipe developer Kita Roberts needed some spot illustrations to go along with her how-to articles for her website Girl Carnivore. This is a sampling of images from two articles. One on choosing your fire lay and one on using a chimney starter for charcoal cooking. I love camping and outdoor cooking so this was a fun project for me. Digital illustrations created on iPad Pro.

Mock illustration poster featuring Bill Nye, Neil deGrass Tyson and Carl Sagan. Features planets and space objects and some hand lettering. I’ve always been a fan of science and space. Same as my Dad. He would often quote Carl Sagan when I was a kid about how we were all made of star stuff.

Matty Matheson with 6 arms in his kitchen

Mock editorial illustration for Toronto Life magazine featuring Matty Matheson. Matty is a Toronto native, chef, writer, farmer, star on Golden Globe award winning show The Bear on FX. Since he has fingers in so many pies I envisioned this illustration of him with 6 arms so I could really pack this piece with easter eggs. Only the not hidden kind. One of the challenges I ran into was with his tattoos. He in reality only has 2 arms so I used a bit of license to use tattoos from the rest of his body to fill out the other 4 arms.
